It's a really interesting area, @Appleblossom . I worked with some Occupational Therapists several years ago who were doing some projects around this.
Green and blue are definitely two colours that elicit a sense of calm and balance in me. I become so peaceful (sometimes to the point of tears) when I'm by the water.
On the contrast, I worked in the toy section of a store for several years when I was younger and I was incredibly overwhelmed by a lot of colour (plus artificial light). I was in a meeting with @tyme a few weeks ago and the (physical) room we were in was VERY orange, which overwhelmed me.

@0ddsidian @Appleblossom @Former-Member years ago I redecorated with some strong warm colours ... think yellow ochre and terracotta. .. but need to tone it down. I've introduced a multicoloured sofa cover which includes blues and muted greens. I can't repaint at present but the new mix of colours is better.

@Dimity its good you are happy with the change.
I have terracotta tiles in wet areas, and a burgundy and green feature walls. Not lots of blue, but I do have a beautiful blue jumper and I like to wear navy blue.

I remember going to a publishing factory where they print books about 10 years ago. They shared how pusblishers chose different coloured covers to promote sales. They said green is the least favoured but there are lots of 'warm' colours. It was an interesting concept @Dimity @Appleblossom @0ddsidian @Former-Member @Till23

Must be a natural/neutral, calming colour @Dimity I feel it is

Interestingly pink is a good colour for some areas of hospitals @tyme
But also blues and greens in general

Bad memories of a bright pink room used as an isolation room in a locked ward. I wasn't segregated there but others were. A mattress on the floor next to a potty.

Yes depends on shade of pink and where it's used @Dimity
Hopefully things have moved on since your experience, which I'm sorry you had to endure. I haven't had an admission for a long time, but I remember some "interesting" situations

I spend an hour and a half in green spaces most days. I find it helps me feel more grounded and I process any emotions that have been bottled up. Sometimes I listen to meditation apps in the sun, and it is easier to relax and focus than when indoors.
I do find blue spaces very calming, I need to make more effort to travel out to these.
