Woo hoo - I have 4 Baby Java Finches @Former-Member & anyone who's interested.
They had not had any babies in about 10 years (then 3 adults died of old age).
I bought 4 new Javas, a few months ago - it didn't take them very long.
They were bouncing around on the aviary floor this afternoon.
So cute!

Yes something is in the air alright @Appleblossom
Considering that a wild Willy Wagtail almost sat on my shoulder (4 days ago), & sang away merrily, right next to my head.
Then a baby wren happily munched seed (in the grass), less than 10cm away from me - when they usually try to get away (very quickly).
The baby Javas are grey-coloured (with black beaks) at the moment @Shaz51 They look just like Super-sized baby Zebra Finches.
Then they will get their Red beaks, white cheek-patches, & metallic-grey feathers, in a few weeks.
Finches can be hard to breed - because most species need "live food" (mealworms or termites etc) in order to breed.
The Javas raised their 4 healthy babies - just on dried egg & biscuit mix (high protein).

@AdgeIt sounds as if you are in touch with nature with all the good aspects of the Dr DooLittle or Francisan charism ...lol
.
So it sounds as if they are already "raised" as in viable after these months ... did they let you get involved or did they do it all ... you just gave them the food?
Sorry I/ve never kept birds.

They did it all themselves (raising babies) @Appleblossom
I had to have the right type of nest boxes (different for each species), otherwise they wouldn't lay any eggs.
Plus egg & biscuit mix (high protein) for feeding baby birds, & plenty of birdseed.
The baby Javas are only just out of the nest.
Their parents sit on the eggs for about 2 weeks, before they hatch.
Then the babies stay in the nest for another week or two, before they come out with all their feathers on.
When they hatch, they're pink balls (no feathers) with their eyes closed.
