Good evening all.
Thanks for the tag and hello, @Shaz51.
I'm drifting in and out again, in my "I'm back home but still getting on my feet" mode. I feel a bit like a turtle... here but hiding away in my shell until I feel a bit more together.

Hi everybody ..... 👋
If we haven’t seen you for a while, welcome back .....
This post is really just to say hi to some of you who haven’t been around much ..... or who have
introduced yourselves, but then weren’t sure where to go from the introduction thread, which was new this year ..... or perhaps have been too weighed down by personal circumstances to be able to come up for air easily .....v some of you are “retired” moderators .... 🤗
We have recently opened a new Discussion Topic area called Social Spaces (as you will see in the title above) which ought to make it much easier to find threads like this one, and others such as
Not everyone who comes here is keen to socialise ..... we are here as carers because the going is tough, and we are reaching out for support ..... but support can come in surprising forms. Those of us who are here long-term have bonded into a community, and a community when it is vibrant and caring is very strong ..... and like a chain, the stronger links support the ones who are not so strong in the moment ....
Distraction is a somewhat necessary part of self-care, and as most of you well understand, self-care is an essential part of being a carer in order to to avoid “carers burnout” which is a real thing.
In any case, respond if you want to .... or go browsing this discussion topic when you have a spare moment or time of need .... we will be here for you.

Thanks for the mention, I haven't been doing well lately and my daughter who was doing amazingly well has slipped backwards.
Right now I'm wondering if we are doing Christmas as a family (husband, son and daughter - no other family members around). My husband is on reserve for the next four days, he can get called in and be gone from one day to four. It's 1.35pm now and if he doesn't get a call before 4pm we'll have our Christmas dinner tonight as he can be called in from 3am on Christmas day. If he gets called in now it means he will be gone for at least one night 😞 - it's complicated but in 14 years in his company he has only ever had 2 Christmas's off 😞 Reserve roster is the worst because you can't plan and don't know what will happen.....
Anyway enough whinging from me....
Hope everyone else is having a lovely time with their family

Hi @YTT ....
Good to hear from you .... but sorry to learn that planning Christmas Day is so difficult for you. It makes it very hard to pull together family time.
I raised my children with a workaholic husband .... and very often Christmas Day was only a couple of hours in his company before he drove back to the office, I had neighbours for three years who didn’t realise I was married ... !!
I am sure that doesn’t make you feel much better, but it is my way of saying that I can relate ....
There will be others of us here on Christmas Day .... most likely on the Hot Chocolate thread .... so if you have a chance to put your feet up around managing with the kids (kidults ?).... please do swing past .....
Cyber hugs .... stay strong .... !
